Tell Me Something About Love ♥

You know what's sad about LOVE?

It's when you happen to know that there's just no hope for you being together yet you still pray to make it work.

It's when your mind says let go but your hearts says hold on.

And most of all, it's no matter how you try to forget him or her, you just can't because of the fact that you still love him or her and you just don't know why.

"Try loving someone you've love before and you'll realize that it will either lead to the same thing that happened before or something better. Not hard, isn't it? But why not try loving someone who doesn't love you back; it's either you see yourself giving up or dying daily." ~ Grey's Anatomy.
"If you love and get hurt, love more. If you love more and get hurt more, love even more. If you love even more and get hurt even more, love some more until it hurts no more." ~ Shakespeare
The gauge of how much you truly treasure something or someone is not how happy you are with them, but how sad you are when you lose them.

One grows distant from another not because of indifference, but because of fear. There's the fear that the hurt gets greater as one gets closer.

A recognition of the tendency to fall deeply, and consequently drown in a quicksand of stupid irrationalities.

Sometimes, what drives one away is not the absence of emotion, but the overwhelming presence of it.

Falling in love is never a decision -- always by chance.

Staying in love is never a chance -- always by choice.

And falling out of love is never a choice -- always a decision.

Attraction comes to us by chance, but true love that lasts is truly a choice.

Listen: Fate brings you together, but it's still up to you to make it happen. We may meet someone by chance, but loving and staying with that someone is still a choice.

Just because my eyes don't have tears, it doesn't mean my heart doesn't cry. Just because you always see me strong, it doesn't mean there's nothing wrong. Sometimes, I choose to pretend I'm happy so I don't have to explain to people who would never understand. Smiling is always easier than explaining to all why I am sad.

It's never the tears that measure the pain. Sometimes, it's the smile that we fake.

A person who truly loves you is someone who sees the pain through your eyes. While everyone still believes in the smile on your face.

The person you love most has the best capacity to make you the happiest person in the world. But at the same time, he or she may give you the worst heartache you can never imagine.

Time can heal wounds but it can never get back what we once had and lost. Time can't tell when or how we would move forward after all was said and done because God gave us the time but we never valued that gift he had given us. So, learn to treasure the ones you choose to love now. Because when the go, there won't be time to have them back.

In life, I have done every way of fighting, heard every painful truth. Been in every heartbreaking scene, and felt every dreadful feeling. I thought that going through it all will then make me realize that I have to stop the fight at least to save a little for myself...

But you know what's funny?

It's when I seem to be so much tired of it all... But still, I can't just quit no matter how hard it is. And I have to continue hoping that one day... one day... I'll be able to find someone who could love me not just "right" but "real".

Love is like giving someone a gun...
Having them point it at your heart
And trusting them never to pull the trigger.
I don't know why we all hang on to something we know we're better off letting go. It's like we're scared to lose what we don't even really have.

Some of us say we'd rather have that something than absolutely nothing. But the truth is, "to have it halfway is harder than not having it at all".

I want to know someone who could ease the pain that I have, who could hold me tight, the one who will never let me go. 'Til every drop of tears that I have, have fallen. 'Til every strength that I have has already passed out. The time that I can no longer move. As he lay me down in my bed, sing me a lullaby 'til I fall asleep, and whisper beside me... "I will never leave you, Angel of Mine."

Time may take us away,
Space may keep us apart,
Rumors and hurts may break us down.
Yet, no matter where life leads us,
I'll always be here,
and...
I'll never stop caring.

Everything is Still a Blur ♥

A Moral Case on Premarital Sex and Teenage Pregnancy

(The following story is purely fictional. If, in any case, similar situations are found, then, it is totally coincidental)

“Can’t remember what I did last night. Maybe I shouldn’t have given in but I just couldn’t fight. Hope I didn’t but I think I might have. Everything, everything is still a blur.” ~ Blur, Britney Spears

Thia (not her real name), nineteen, a fourth year college student of a prominent school in the city, grew up in a rural community of the province Bukidnon. She was brought up well by her Christian parents, attended first-class schools since kindergarten until college, and was a consistent honor student. However, in all her growing up years, she never involved herself in looking for relationship with the opposite sex; she was happy, happy with her group of friends. But all of that changed when she was eighteen, until she met her best friend’s boyfriend Angelo (not his real name), an artist.

At first, she hated Angelo, because she knew that he was just using her best friend, Candice (not her real name). Often, when Thia and her friends go for a night out, she would see Angelo flirting with other girls, or so she thought. She would report this to her best friend, but it’s the one thing that they won’t agree upon because Candice loves Angelo so much. Angelo saw the hatred in Thia’s eyes every time the three of them are together, shopping or watching movies. This was why Angelo must have felt the challenge in Thia’s attitude so he tried really hard to win her. And winning her, he was successful. Thia and Angelo had a relationship, without anyone’s knowledge, most especially, her best friend and the girlfriend of Angelo, Candice, and even if the doctrines of Thia’s religion forbids her because not only was the guy a non-believer but also he was not part of their religion.

Thia and Angelo would secretly meet after Angelo’s date with Candice. Thia, who had never drunk an alcohol before, because of so much love for Angelo, learned to drink which eventually led to their sexual relationship.

Alcohol and premarital sex is not a good combination because now, Thia, nineteen, is in her second term of pregnancy. When she told Angelo about it, he left her and threatened her that if she tells Candice about them, he would kill her. He told her that he loves Candice and what happened between them is purely sexual and nothing more.

According to a study of UP Population Institute, one of four Filipinos aged 15-24, which is close to four million youngsters, are engaging in premarital sex.

In Philippines Today, it has been said that 16.5 million Filipinos belong to the 15-24 year old age group. And we are forced with a glaring truth that at a very young age, a lot of young people today has children of their own. 30% of all births belong to this age group; and by the age of 20, 25% are already mothers. Statistics show that every year at least 64,000 teenagers have abortions, and those are statistics from a country where abortion is illegal and where we claim that we are a Christian nation, who preserves and value life.

Thia is a representation of the many Filipino youth we have today that are engaged to premarital sex, many of them are experiencing teenage pregnancy and abortion is on their heads right now. However, when asked, Thia never considered in aborting her child because according to her, the child is God’s blessing.

In Thia’s experience, we can identify premarital sex as the object of human action or is the offense committed. Its intention is maybe for sexual gratification, but in Thia’s case, she wanted to give all her love to Angelo by agreeing to do the sinful act, or so she thought. And for the circumstance, well, she was under the influence of alcohol which might have hindered her to think straight the first time they did it.

The effect of the action is life-changing, not only for Thia but to her parents and to the child she is carrying as well. Her parents were mortified to know about her condition, they were ashamed because their religion is known to have the purest members, or that’s what they were saying. Thia stopped school because of her growing stomach. From then on, she became so distant to her friends and relatives.

Freedom, as we all know, makes man a moral subject. When he acts deliberately, man is, so to speak, the father of his acts. Sin is an offense against reason, truth and right conscience; it is a failure in genuine love for God and neighbor caused by a perverse attachment to certain goods. Thia is, in a sense, gravely liable for her actions because she already knows, right from high school, about the sinfulness and the grave nature of premarital sex, and it was committed with full knowledge and deliberate consent.

The Bible refers to premarital sex as fornication. Fornication is sexual intercourse between people who are not married to each other. Premarital sex is just as much of a sin as adultery and all other forms of sexual immorality. They all involve having sexual relations with someone you are not married to.

The Bible explains, “… The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body” (1 Corinthians 6:13). Verse 18 of this chapter goes to say, “Free from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.” Galatians 5:19 speaks the same, “The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity…” Ephesians 5:3 says it most plainly, “But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immortality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. From these verses, we see that the Bible promotes complete and total abstinence from premarital sex.

When we evaluate Thia’s actions to one’s conscience applying the golden rule: “Do not do unto others what you don’t want others do to you”, we can say that what she did had affected lives, not only hers, but also her family and her soon-to-be baby. In one way or another, she has to be a mother for her child and it would not be an easy job, knowing that she still have to finish her studies. Another rule goes like this, “Don’t do evil so that good things may result on it”, where Thia shouldn’t have engaged in premarital sex because not only was it morally wrong, but because it led her to cease from studying and it separated her from her friends and co-members of her religion. However, her baby is not an omen, her baby is a gift, a blessing from God, and she shouldn’t feel bad about the baby because it did nothing wrong to her and her family. And the last rule: “Respect is a fundamental expression of the love of neighbor”. If she had respected herself more, respected her family and her best friend, she wouldn’t have done what she did. And if Angelo respected her, he wouldn’t have done the things he did to her.

In discussing premarital sex, people often focus on the “recreation” aspect of it. In God’s plan, sex was designed for married couples to enjoy the pleasure and excitement of sexual relations. The Bible talks about this in Hebrews 13:4, “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.” Although it is true that God created sex to be fun, exciting and pleasurable, it is, at the same time, clear in the Bible that God restricts sexual activity to married couples only.

The primary purpose of sex is not recreation, but rather it is for reproduction. God does not limit sex to married couples to rob pleasure from those who are unmarried; rather, God commands against premarital sex in order to protect unmarried people from unwanted pregnancies, from children born to parents who do not want them, and to protect children from parents who are not prepared for them. Imagine, for a moment, a world without premarital sex. There would be no sexually-transmitted diseases, there would be no un-wed mothers, there would be no unwanted pregnancies, and there would be no abortions. According to the Bible, abstinence is God's only policy when it comes to premarital sex. Abstinence saves lives, protects babies, gives sexual relations the proper value, and most importantly abstinence honors God.

Moreover, what Thia did doesn’t make her an entirely bad person. She admits her sins, acknowledges them and asks forgiveness from God for them. The bible says in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” Yes, God is a merciful and loving Father, and He loves all of us, even the sinners. So let us not look at them as if we’re so clean and they are so immoral because God is the Father of all and He forgives everyone who acknowledges their failures and sins.

To Thia, God loves you so much and don’t think that it’s the end of your world. It’s just the beginning of another chapter. With God’s grace and guidance, you will be a loving parent and you will go through with this bravely and successfully. Continue in your prayers and meditations with God. God alone is enough for you and for all. Wishing you and the baby good health. Have a blessed pregnancy.
